Grandparents Create A Special “Word Box” And Great Memories

The Word Box and Samuels “Hot Wheels” prize

The Word Box is only one of many attractions at Nonni and Poppa’s house for their precocious 3 yr. old grandson Samuel.  Poppa found the box at a garage sale, and added a knob to it so it would be easier for Samuel to open.

The Word Box was created especially  for Samuel, and Nonni and Poppa keep it in an accessible spot in  their living room.    Prior to Samuels visits, Poppa prints out one new word for him to learn/use and puts it in the box with a small toy. As you can imagine, Samuel runs to the box as soon as  he arrives, to expose his newest surprise.

Nonni and Poppa recently discovered that Samuel already is using some of the larger Word Box choices they’ve included.  Lately these creative grandparents are thinking they may need to increase the level of difficulty in their word selections,  as Samuel used the word ASTONISHED in a sentence to Nonni recently. As if that weren’t enough to blow  his grandparents minds on one recent visit Samuel replied “It’s complicated,” when Nonni asked for an explanation about something.

I’d like to thank Nonni for sharing this awesome “Word Box” idea she and “Poppa” thought up as an awesome activity or all Grandparents to share with their grandchildren.  What a  great memory Samuel will have, in addition to an astounding vocabulary!

If you have any imaginative suggestions to share with other grandparents, please send them to me at Mimi@BoomerGrandparents.com.
