After years of vacationing and visiting family, going from one place to another..unpacking and repacking, I was startled to find that I love cruises.
The major cruise lines all seem to offer many more options for dining and no longer require dress attire. The no cooking part is great, and I love that you can eat when you want, where you want. The real reason I love cruising is the staying in one place part. For me, it’s like taking a “pre-trip”. You go on a cruise so that you know where to go for your next “I’m going to this ONE cool place” vacation.
I’m looking forward to the future when I can take my grandchildren with us on a cruise. My stepsons were blessed with a grandmother who took them to amazing destinations all over the world, choosing one place each summer. When she passed away, all of her grandchildren commented that one of the main memories they’ll always have of her, is the time spent traveling to different countries and sharing her love of learning and travel. I’d love to be able to make memories like that with my grandchildren some day.
I found a few websites that specialize in cruising for families.
Frommers Best Cruise Ships for Kids
Disney Cruise Line for Families
Cruise Critic: Best Family Cruises
Conde Nast Traveler, Family Cruise
I’d love to hear from any Boomer Grandparents out there who have traveled with their grandchildren, and can offer any ideas or advice.

I am not a big cruise gal, but I know many who are AND take kids/grandkids and love it.

Thank you for your input!
we haven’t cruised the the gk yet, but they want to go on a Disney cruise..LOL. We are thinking Carnival might be more in our price range and the kids club gets good reviews
