There are numerous references you can use for starting a blog. I'd check with my local community center for classes, bookstores, and try Meetup.com in your area for blogging groups. Good luck to you!

This is a great sign that PBS is aware of the importance of an Internet presence, and that seniors are very active on the web. It's great to see that a demographic that is so often ignored in the television industry (despite controlling 70% of the country's disposable income) is getting special attention and recognition from PBS.

Hey there! I realize this is somewhat off-topic but I needed to ask. Does building a well-established blog like yours require a lot of work? I'm brand new to running a blog but I do write in my diary on a daily basis. I'd like to start a blog so I will be able to share my own experience and thoughts online. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or tips for new aspiring bloggers. Appreciate it!

You make some good points, although when I was a kid, I was sort of proud of being a tomboy. And about that definition in the Urban Dictionary. . . you know that site is created by the users, so the definitions are far from, um, definitive. Personally, I am less inclined to get upset about the tomboy label and more likely to get upset that everything designed for girls has to be pink and in a princess theme.

My 4 y.o. granddaughter calls me "Mimi", too!! I also wanted a "different" type of grandmother name so there would be no confusion, as she also has 2 grandmothers & 2 great-grandmothers. It was her Daddy, my son-in-law, who helped choose "Mimi", & I LOVE IT!!
