Baby Boomers need more than just a simple suggestion that participation in social media sites is a critical component of a job search in today’s job market. Quotes from our youth are proving more and more relevant, “The Times They Are a Changin” and ”We’re not in Kansas Anymore” need to become a Baby Boomer job seekers mantra.
Logically, if you want to be taken seriously as a potential candidate for a job, any employer is going to give higher marks to a Baby Boomer “with it” enough to be participating in sites like Facebook and LinkedIn. We’ve already got experience going for us, adding technical savvy will be an added bonus. Certainly BabyBoomer job candidates will be overlooked as potential employees if we’re not willing to keep up with the same job searching methods used by younger, less experienced competing applicants.
